Skywalk Chili 5 — A High-B XC Machine With Mid-B Comfort
The Chili 5's strengths are clear. It has all the climb, glide and top speed of a high-B, yet asks the pilot for active handling at only a mid-B level. The couch-like comfort isn't a marketing line but comes from real behaviour — riding the lift on its own in a thermal without a hand on the brakes. Turning that comfort into distance, though, comes with conditions. If you want efficiency you have to fly toward the top of the weight range, and you'll have to accept the stiffness of the second bar segment. Comfort is given at no cost, but glide and distance are the payoff that only comes when you load the canopy fully and work it as an XC tool. So the Chili 5 is less a wing that made high-B easy than a wing that carries a distance-hungry pilot through a full day without wearing them out.
