Ziad Bassil's Gear Reviews

The appeal of the VOLT 4 is clear. It delivers two-liner glide efficiency and short, direct handling in a C, without giving up accessibility or docility. There is one condition attached. Carry over the weight habits of the three-liner era and this wing shows you only half of itself. Fly it light and the weight sits too far back, dulling it in weak thermals; fill it to maximum and the centre of gravity moves forward, bringing it alive even in light air. So the VOLT 4 is not a C you float up lightly and ride in comfort. It's a C that returns its glide in full to the pilot who knows how to fill it precisely to the top of the range.
